Heavy Duty Diesel Technician / HD Mechanic – FIFO Mining

Overview:
To maintain, service, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty mining equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation across remote mining sites. This is a fly-in, fly-out role with full camp accommodation provided.

Western Australia / Queensland / South Australia (FIFO from major hubs)

Employment Type:
Full-Time | FIFO

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and breakdown repairs on CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr, and similar machinery
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and engine faults
  • Conduct pre-start inspections and complete service documentation and work orders
  • Communicate parts requirements and delays to supervisors and maintenance teams
  • Uphold strict safety standards, PPE compliance, and site procedures
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives

Role Purpose / Overview:

Experience Required:

  • Certificate III in Heavy Diesel Fitting / Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Experience working in mining, civil, or heavy industry environments
  • Strong diagnostic knowledge of haul trucks, loaders, dozers, graders, or drill rigs
  • Valid manual driver’s licence (HR or above desirable)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol test, and police clearance
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and use diagnostic systems (CAT SIS, ET, Komtrax, etc.)

Salary:
$60 – $75 per hour + site allowance + superannuation Equivalent to $150,000 – $180,000 AUD per year (depending on roster/overtime)
